Lalit Kala wakes up; ...perhaps
Posted February 2nd, 2010 by devajyotiNew Delhi's Lalit Kala is once again waking up from its long hibernation.
Artists who hail always had a love-hate relationship with this mamoth institute. In the 60s and 70s, when the Indian art market was in a very nascent stage and private galleries were far and few, most artists in Delhi depended on Lalit Kala Academy for their basic survival. A set of one roomed basic studios (at a place these days called Garhi) were rented out at negligible rates by the Academy in those days to aspiring artists.
Sridharani Show and after
Posted November 17th, 2009 by devajyotiExhibitions are wonderful periods in life. After months of hard work that goes into the preparation for an exhibition, suddenly there is a huge gallery with lots of space to loiter around and absolutely nothing to do. The ten days of exhibition at Sridharani Gallery in New Delhi did exactly the same for me. It was a time to relax, gossip and give fundas on art to curious visitors.
